Christmas Party Photo Booth Ideas for Utah Companies

5 min read

If you're the one planning the work Christmas party this year, you've probably searched for work Christmas party ideas and found the same list everyone else did: white elephant, an ugly sweater contest, a catered dinner, maybe bowling. All good ideas. But the parties people are still talking about the following Monday usually have one more thing going on: a photo booth that pulls coworkers out of their usual circles and into the same photo.

We've been running photo booths at Utah holiday parties since 2018, from small office parties to big company-wide celebrations. Here's what works, which booth fits your crowd, and how far ahead to book.

Why a Photo Booth Works at a Work Christmas Party

A holiday party has one job: get people who email each other all year to actually hang out. A photo booth does that better than almost anything else on the list. Teams pile in together, someone from accounting talks half of sales into a group shot, and at least one manager ends up in a Santa hat.

It also fixes the awkward stretch of the night. Not everyone dances, and not everyone wants to make small talk at a high-top table for three hours. The booth gives people something to do together for five minutes, and they walk away with a print or a GIF on their phone.

Which Booth Fits Your Company Christmas Party

Guac, Salsa and Tortilla 360 each come with a full-time attendant, props, full setup and takedown, an online gallery, and text and email sharing, so nobody on your planning committee has to babysit the booth. You can see every booth side by side at https://www.rockymountainphotobooth.com/our-booths.

Guac, starting at $699 for 2 hours. Our flagship printing booth: a 24MP mirrorless camera, studio lighting, and a custom-designed photo strip with your company's logo and colors, included as standard. Every session gets two 2x6 prints, or go unlimited (+$150) so no one walks away empty-handed. If photo quality matters, Guac is the way to go.

Salsa, starting at $499 for 2 hours. Our budget-friendly printing booth, with a 12MP camera and a ring light. Salsa comes with a huge library of stock templates, holiday designs included, and we'll swap in your company name and party date at no extra charge. Want something fully custom-designed just for your party? That's our $50 Premium Template.

Tortilla 360, starting at $899 for 2 hours. Our 4K 360 video booth. A team steps onto the platform, the camera circles them, and the video lands on their phones by text or email. A custom-designed video frame is included as standard. Torn between a 360 and a printing booth? Here's how they compare.

The Mingler, starting at $599 for 2 hours. Our roaming photo booth. Instead of a booth in the corner, an attendant walks the party with a handheld camera and brings the booth to your guests: at the bar, at the tables, on the dance floor. Photos go straight to phones (digital only, no prints), with a custom-designed digital overlay included as standard. It's a great fit for a cocktail-style party where nobody stays in one place.

Salsa Selfie Station, starting at $399 for 3 hours. Our drop-off service: no attendant, digital delivery only, and you bring the props. It works well for a daytime office party or a team lunch where you just want something fun running in the corner.

Big Party? Run More Than One Booth

Holiday parties are where multiple booths make the most sense: a big guest list, a few hours, and everyone wants a turn. This December, we're running four booths at once for one company's holiday party: two Guacs, a Tortilla 360, and The Mingler working the room. On one Saturday in December, we'll have five booths out at two different holiday parties.

If your guest list runs into the hundreds, a second booth keeps the line moving. Here's what happens when you book two photo booths for one event.

Christmas Photo Booth Ideas Your Team Will Actually Use

  • Put your company on every photo. A holiday design with your logo, the party name and the date turns every strip or video into a keepsake from the year. It's custom-designed as standard on Guac, Tortilla 360 and The Mingler. On Salsa, we customize a holiday template for free, or design one from scratch with the $50 Premium Template.

  • Pick a Christmas photo booth backdrop that does the decorating for you. Our Gold, Black & Gold, and White & Silver backdrops look festive without a single ornament. See the full lineup at https://www.rockymountainphotobooth.com/backdrops.

  • Go green screen for a snowy scene. Add green screen to Guac (+$100) and guests can pick from up to five holiday backgrounds you choose, from a snowy mountain cabin to the North Pole.

  • Give Santa a shift in the booth. If someone's already wearing the suit, park them in the booth for the first hour. It turns into the line everyone wants to be in.

  • Bring a box of holiday props. Guac, Salsa and Tortilla 360 come with props. Add a box of Santa hats, reindeer antlers and garland, and every photo reads Christmas instantly.

  • Turn the strips into party favors. With unlimited prints, everyone in a group gets their own copy to pin up at their desk.

Ugly Sweater Party? Make the Booth the Runway

Of all the ugly sweater party ideas out there, this is the easiest one to pull off: send everyone through the booth when they arrive, then pick the winner from the online gallery at the end of the night (or the next morning, if the vote gets heated). The strips with the worst sweaters in the office tend to stay on the break room fridge until spring.

New Year's Eve and January Parties Count Too

Not every company squeezes the party into December. Plenty of teams push it to January, when venues are easier to book and nobody's calendar is packed with family plans. It's an easy way to start the year with the whole team in one room.

Hosting a New Year's Eve party instead? A New Year's Eve photo booth with a Gold or Black & Gold backdrop and a "2027" design makes the countdown photos look the part.

What a Holiday Party Photo Booth Costs in Utah

Photo booth rental in Salt Lake City and across Utah starts at $399 for the Salsa Selfie Station (3 hours) and $499 for an attended booth (2 hours). Extra hours are $100 each ($75 for the Selfie Station). If you're comparing event photo booth rental quotes, our photo booth rental cost guide walks through every package and upgrade, and our pricing calculator gives you an instant estimate for your party.

A few things that make budgeting easier:

  • No weekend surcharges. A Saturday party costs the same as a Tuesday one.

  • No travel fee anywhere on the Wasatch Front or in Park City.

  • Booking more than one day? Multi-day bookings get 15% off.

  • Registered 501(c)(3) non-profits and schools get 20% off. Discounts don't stack; you get the best one that applies.

When to Book Your Holiday Party Photo Booth

December Saturdays fill up first. If your party lands on one, book as soon as you have the date and the venue. Fridays, weeknights and January dates give you the most options.

Booking takes our online booking form and a 50% deposit, with the balance due 30 days before the party. If your party is less than 30 days away, it's paid in full at booking.

Ready to Check Your Date?

We've been doing this across Utah since 2018, with 1,000+ events and five-star reviews on Google, Yelp and Thumbtack. Send us your date, venue and rough guest count, and we'll confirm availability and help you pick the right booth (or booths) for your party.
